Does FACIS® perform criminal-background searches?
Answer: FACIS® does not have a program that searches the criminal history of healthcare providers. The FACIS® database reports adverse actions and sanctions taken by Federal and state healthcare agencies. FACIS® reports criminal convictions only if they have been reported by a healthcare agency via a disciplinary action listing. While FACIS® does not report criminal information, we have affiliate organizations to which we can refer you that would be of better assistance to you in the matter criminal background searches. These affiliates are also able to offer FACIS® as part of their criminal-background checks.
